Response to B Girl Be

a cacophony of skins and verbs danced in my dreams last night
painting the 7 wonders of the world across my heart
pulling strings, making me move
their paint rolling & dripping past perceptions of my identity
turning my lips green like these speaking trees around me
splashing my cheeks yellow with the intensity of intention
fire ball burning bright inside my wide spirit
my eyes covered in brilliant blue hues
clouding my vision from all the atrocities they usually see
& giving me a tiny piece of hope
they turned my hands over and in the pale they placed
the deepest purple
as they circled silently around me
building rituals to ground me
language has not stifled these
communicating through cultural & language barriers, pictures & rhythms
we all climbed the razor wired divisions
aquiring no cuts or scars
to meet eachother in the silence
their painted poems are stinging, ringing in my ears
tatooed on my fingertips
leaving new fingerprints
and as these are etched into my forever
women are being birthed from between the mortar and brick
slipping out to sidewalk slick, rain bliss
balancing on linoleum love poems
breathing through gas masks because their breath has been held so long
that it has become to dense to put back into the atmosphere
little girls are being unstitched, given back their humanity
lips bubbling with words so stifled
they sweat with punctuated perfection
we are being watched in awe and fear
because our power is so great they are afraid we will abuse it
but they do not know us
they do not know what we know
or love what we love
love how we love
The truth is stretching across a new frame
skin canvasses covering the vast open spaces
that we used to think were empty
transplanting our spirits back into the rich soil
flowering in the desserts
pulling water from the other side of the earth to our roots
we have come from light to darkness and through it all again
because our resilience has given us a strength incomprehensible
our voices are echoing past denial
prevailing over persecution and prejudice
proliferating the pages that captured us before
in one sided love poems
we are telling the stories of who we are
and in the process
we are changing the consciousness of the world
